This is a stompy. They're my friends.

Why d'you call 'em stompies? Do they stomp on things? I'm nerdy and call them Larus. Hey, that sounds like a Latin version of "Larry." Maybe Larry would be a good name for a stompy. Maybe Lawrence if it's a humorless, stuck up stompy.

I started calling them stompies because they DO stomp! They stand and run in place, basically. I almost shat myself when I saw because it's so damn funny. Just picture them standing with their wee paddy feet stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp stomping. I don't quite understand the physics of it but stomping brings insects from the ground for them to eat.
I tried to take a video of them stomping but every time I grabbed my camera and ran outside they would stop and stare at me. Bastards. I wish American seagulls were as smart as Scottish sealgulls. I am going to call American seagulls Lawrences from now on.

Woohoo! I contributed to the personal vernacular of a near-total stranger!

I saw some seagulls at Target yesterday and I said, there are some Laurences!

I don't know if you'll read this but I was driving with my dad and we saw some seagulls eating trash on the street and I told my dad they were Lawrences. He didn't really respond but I thought it was funny.
